I'm definitely not a big fan of political cinema. Not because he is not interested in politics at all, but because films of this genre are biased and too ideological. Take for example the "Queen" or "Arnold's Campaign". In the first we have clearly said - Blair cacy, Elżbieta fe. In contrast, in the "Campaign" of candidate Schwarzenegger presented as a little intelligent mountain of muscles. Howard's film is very different from these images. We have to decide for ourselves who we will stand for. So here we have a lot of understatements and allusions. top streaming sites This is not only a decent and solid biography. It is something more. It is a story about hidden ambitions, deepest fears, frustration of the surrounding reality and desires to be accepted and understood in society. But from the beginning. Richard Milhous Nixon is the 37th president of the United States. We meet him a few years after the famous Watergate scandal, when he once again gave a minor speech.

Once a very important personage became zero. The only chance to rebuild the image is a television interview proposed by British showman, David Frost.

At first, he underestimates his opponent and is firmly convinced that he will go smoothly. Not only will it save its reputation, but it will also earn on it.

However, he underestimates the other party's strength ...

An exciting word fight begins. It can be said that Nixon and Frosta are simply antagonistic characters. They differ practically everything. The President is fiercely frustrated, nervous, violent, but on the other hand ambitious, brilliant, charismatic and intelligent. The director introduced him as a real political player who wants to get his way at all costs. He underestimates his rival - he treats him dismissively and approaches him completely indifferently. Frost, however, is a playboy associated with kitschy entertainment. He likes big fun and beautiful women.

He is not particularly interested in politics, but he hopes that if the interview goes his way, he will secure a significant position in the industry and change his image. Their conversation turns into a duel of words and undertones.

They both know that only one winner will come out of it.

When writing about this film, it is necessary to mention sensational acting.

The foreground is played by Frank Langellia, who was rightly nominated for an Oscar for the role of Nixon.

I can't imagine anyone else playing this role. The actor brilliantly reflected the traits and character spirit of the expresident. In his unusual game, he drew attention to the smallest details, such as sweating over his upper lip or various grimaces during the interview. Michael Sheen played the opponent role.

I think he coped with the role of the outdated showman, but he did not shine as much as the movie president. In the supporting roles we can see such actors as Kevin Bacon, Rebecca Hall or Sam Rockwell.

At some point, the movie watches as the best thriller. The balanced voltage is delivered in small portions until complete. It's also a very good history lesson for those who haven't heard anything about the Watergate scandal and interview. It was also a good idea to interweave interview scenes with various paradocumentary fragments. But an even better effect would come out if these materials appeared real participants of those events. Of course, the film also has its small minuses. Several scenes and dialogues came out a little kitsch, including a phone conversation between Nixon and Frost. Unfortunately, the DVD edition has no additions. It is a pity, because the distributor could get archival materials or comments of the actors or participants of the events shown in the film.

The sound was recorded in DD 5.1 format, and the image 16: 9. You can choose from Polish language or Polish subtitles.

"Frost / Nixon" is definitely not an outstanding film or a masterpiece. The image did not cause a scandal, it did not arouse controversy, at least in Poland in Poland. It's just a very well-filmed biography, solid and reliable craft. It was enough for me. .
