The victory in the Historic Pact coalition was won by the former mayor of Bogota, and the former senator of the Republic. He was officially a candidate for Presidency of the Republic, which is an ambition he hopes to be able to hold for the third consecutive time.

Petro said he recently spoke with the Prime Minister of Spain, Pedro Sanchez, about his plan.

His position on health has been controversial, as he is insistent on ending EPS and replacing the model with a preventive care model that "guarantees the rights of people, not the bankers' profits".

gustavo petro Petro claimed that the Bank Board of Directors of the Bank belonged to the Democratic Center, a political party. "What we would like, however, is an independent Bank of the Republic (...) and it is to us key that the board of Directors is represented by the community," the candidate said in the middle of the debate.
