The Soultry Sisters hosts a three-day Summer Solstice Arts & Wellness Festival Friday to June 26 at the Village Rock Shop, 2690 State St., featuring local artists, creatives, healers and wellness practitioners. Open air art festival takes place June 26



The Carlsbad Village Association’s Art in the Village will return from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 26 along State Street and Grand Avenue, featuring an open air art show with 110 local and regional artists. Artwork is juried and patrons can meet the artists. Artwork will be on display and for sale. Highlights include live sculpting, chalk art, painting and glass-making demos, pop-up art with free art-making booth for children and their families and live music, along with food, wine and beer garden. The San Diego Botanic Garden joined Museums for All, an access program to encourage people of all backgrounds to visit museums and other collections. Museums for All supports those receiving food assistance benefits by providing admission to the garden for $1 per person, for groups of up to four people, with a state-issued SNAP Electronic Benefits Transfer card or a Women, Infants, & Children card and valid photo ID. Golf tournament benefits animal shelter



The Encinitas-based Rancho Coastal Humane Society’s second Tees fore Tails golf tournament is set for Thursday at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa, 2100 Costa Del Mar Road. OCEANSIDEElectric shuttle serves downtown



An electric vehicle shuttle pilot program started serving downtown Oceanside. The “gO’side” five-passenger electric shuttles will run from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. Shuttles can be hailed via the “Ride Circuit” smartphone app, selecting “Oceanside” as the location, or by flagging down a shuttle in an area that is safe to stop for passenger boarding. The service will initially be free but a nominal fare may be charged in the future, based on ridership. The service area covers from Oceanside Harbor south to Vista Way in the area west of Interstate 5. The pilot program is slated to run through November. Visit ridegoside.com.



‘Totally Tidepools’ program at library



The Living Coast Discovery Center’s “Totally Tidepools” presentation at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday will be at the Civic Center Library, 330 N. Coast Highway, as part of the Oceanside Public Library Summer Reading program. There will be animal encounters and a discovery table. The Civic Center Library will also host a “Voices in the Sea” teen and tween event at 3:30 p.m. June 28. Senior patrol volunteers sought



The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department stations in Poway and 4S Ranch are looking for adults to join the Senior Volunteer Patrol. Duties include traffic control, patrolling neighborhoods in Poway and 4S Ranch, checking on homes of residents on vacation, and checking on the welfare of residents as part of the Sheriff’s Department’s “You Are Not Alone” program. Volunteers must be at least 50 years old, a U.S. citizen or legal resident who has applied for citizenship, and have a valid California driver’s license and car insurance. Volunteers must be of good moral character with no felony convictions and attend a two-week Senior Volunteer Patrol Academy. Volunteers typically work up to five hours a week. Call (858) 232-8000. Writing group meets Wednesdays



The San Marcos Writers’ Critique Group meets from 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesdays via Zoom for serious writers to critique each other’s writings. Basic requirements include a computer with video, audio and Internet and a commitment to participate every week for four months. The group splits the $16 monthly cost between members. Families needed for Type 1 diabetes study



Families with adolescent children with Type 1 diabetes are being sought for a study by graduate student Jessica Preciado, under the direction of professor Sharon Hamill, from the Psychology Department at California State University San Marcos. This study is designed to explore Type 1 diabetes in adolescents ages 13-18 and how families manage the disease. Participants will complete a brief online survey at their convenience. All eligible participants who complete the survey will receive $5 (maximum of $15 per family). Study results will be made available upon request.
