Having small house dogs can be rewarding, because they can be wonderful companions both for you and your family. They will keep you company as you watch television, read a novel or even as you prepare a meal. Indeed, some of them do not mind curdling with you in your bed.
If you need playmates for your children, small house dogs are at hand to provide that. They can be great with your children because if you introduce your children to them as puppies, they will no doubt enjoy playing with them. However, you have to teach your children to respect your small dogs because if they don't, they can easily be hurt by your dogs. Even your dogs can be hurt by your children. Because of the nature of children, therefore, they should never be left in the company of your small dogs unsupervised.
Most small dogs are great watchdogs despite being very small in size. They are typically very alert and will bark continuously to announce the arrival of a stranger. The problem with them however, is that they tend to warm up to strangers very quickly, and this may compromise their position as watchdogs.
Small house dogs can get along remarkably well with other dogs and small pets. For this to happen, it is your responsibility to socialize them as puppies so that they can come to the realization that these other pets are not for them to prey on. If you do this, then be sure they will not be a threat to other pets that you may be keeping.
In Dog bed blankets , most small dogs are very sensitive. Because of this, they do not respond well to harshness and you must therefore ensure that you are very gentle in training them. Also, reward them for any progress that they make as this will motivate them to want to learn more.
